About this trip

This trip will be extremely demanding because of the long hiking days, two nights sleeping in tents and because the hiking is at a very high altitude. You must be in great shape to enjoy this trip and keep up with our guides, porters and our group.

We will fly from DFW through Miami to Lima, Peru. After arriving late we will stay at an airport hotel to rest before flying up to Cusco the next morning.

After we get to Cusco we will visit the Temple of the Sun (Qoricancha) and the Cathedral of Basilica of Cusco and Sacsayhuaman Archaeological Center as we let our bodies get aclipacted to the high elevation.

The next day we will take a beautiful drive enjoying views of the snow capped peaks of the Andes Mountains to Moray and the salt mines of Maras that dates back to pre-inca times before settling at our next hotel.

For our third day in the Cusco area (first day on the Inca Trail) we will begin the Inca Trail bright and early. We will hike almost 9 miles in around 9-10 hours before we stop at our camp for the evening.

Our fourth day (second day on the Inca Trail) will also be a hiking day. We will start early and walk almost 10 miles in around 10-12 hours before our second night camping on the trail.

The fifth day (third day on the Inca Trail) is the morning we will hike over 9 miles for around 10-11 hours until we arrive at the Sun Gate and see well earned panoramic views of Machu Picchu. That evening we will stay in a hotel in Machu Picchu Town to get some good rest.

Our sixth day (fourth day on the Inca Trail) we will have our official visit to one of the seven wonders of the world. We'll leave by bus at 6:00am to drive to Machu Picchu for our two hour guided tour of the site before returning to Cusco by train that afternoon to enjoy our final night there.

Finally, on our seventh day we will fly back to Lima and then on to DFW after an overnight flight to Miami.
